J. Douglas Storey

Technical Lead, Communication Science and Research

Doug Storey is director for communication science and research at CCP and an associate professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where he teaches courses on the use of theory and research to design, implement and evaluate strategic health communication programs. He has nearly 40 years of experience in health communication, development communication and evaluation research, and has lived and worked in 36 countries.

His work spans a wide range of topics including reproductive health, maternal and child health, avian and pandemic flu, emergency preparedness, preventive health behavior, environmental communication, community capacity building and strategic communication planning.

He has consulted on health behavior communication research, evaluation and strategic planning for numerous international organizations, agencies and foundations. Previously, he was resident director of the Coral Reef Rehabilitation and Management Project (COREMAP) environmental communication initiative in Indonesia (1999-2003) and director of program research for the global USAID-funded Health Communication Partnership (2003-2009). Doug is ex-officio chair of the Health Communication Division of the International Communication Association. He is fluent in Indonesian.
