Around the world, hundreds of millions of people still become ill with diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. Diarrheal disease continues to be a leading cause of death, particularly for children under five.
CCP works with international and private organizations, governments and communities to improve safe water, hygiene and sanitation practices worldwide. The initiative uses strategic health communication to promote healthy behaviors such as hand washing with soap, home water treatment and community hygiene campaigns.
Through a combination of innovative research methods and theories we strive to bridge the gap between behavior and technologies, and to encourage sustained use of water treatment technologies and hygiene products. We closely collaborate with the Johns Hopkins University Global Water Program led by the Center for Water and Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
