SUMMARY:How are the Data Used? Four Cases from the COVID Behaviors Dashboard
DESCRIPTION:Since mid-September 2021\, tens of thousands of visitors from 184 countries have accessed the COVID-19 Behaviors Dashboard (http://covidbehaviors.org). As a data utilization project\, the dashboards aim to increase data-based decisions among global public health practitioners. This webinar will highlight the application of these data in practice by providing experiences of public health practitioners (government officials\, NGOs\, program designers\, and journalists) using these data in their work. SUMMARY:Malaria SBC Evidence Discussion: Impact of SBC on ITN Condition and Care
DESCRIPTION:How can research findings inform and improve social and behavior change (SBC) programs? What questions can SBC practitioners keep in mind to help sift through research\, interpret publications\, and apply lessons learned? Join Breakthrough ACTION for the fifth in a series of online guided discussions following a journal club format about malaria SBC evidence. \nAbout the article\nFollowing the mass distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets (ITN) in 2010 in Nasarawa State\, Nigeria\, cross-sectional household surveys on the condition of the nets were collected at one-year intervals in 2012\, 2013\, and 2014. In the study\, Impact of a behaviour change intervention on long-lasting insecticidal net care and repair behaviour and net condition in Nasarawa State\, Nigeria\, researchers used an intervention-control study with a before-after assessment to measure the impact of SBC on the average useful life of ITNs. This discussion will begin with a brief description of the methods used to measure and correlate exposure to SBC\, attitudes about ITN care\, and ITNs observed in serviceable condition. Dr. Hannah Koenker will then explain how data from subsequent ITN durability studies can inform SBC for ITN care.
