Climate Action

From 2030 to 2050, the World Health Organization estimates that the climate crisis could cause 250,000 additional deaths per year from malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, heat stress and more. Low- and middle-income countries are particularly vulnerable.

At CCP, we believe that communication can help turn the tide. It can inspire people and governments to address behaviors that contribute to climate change and can strengthen health systems to better cope with the resulting health effects. CCP’s decades of experience and expertise using communication to change behaviors and shift social norms readily translates to the challenges ahead that require big change and scalable solutions.

Challenge

In remote, biodiverse parts of the world, communities often lack access to life-saving services like contraception. When connected to health programs, environmental conservation programs, which are often thriving in these communities, can help bridge the gap. But program managers need access to knowledge and resources to help these integrated programs succeed.

CCP’s Knowledge SUCCESS program oversaw a series of co-creation workshops in 2020 to come up with a way to streamline the process of connecting health and conservation groups to share resources and best practices. The result? People running these programs all over the world can now come together at peopleplanetconnect.org and help one another improve family planning, conservation efforts and more.
