CCP is playing a major role in the revitalization of Indonesia’s national family planning program under a new Gates Foundation-funded project. In 11 districts, we are working with the women’s branches of Indonesia’s two largest Muslim organizations to incorporate family planning and reproductive health information into prayer groups, Koran readings and other continuing activities. Pre-kindergarten and day care networks are also designated avenues for reaching young mothers.

Volunteers from these Muslim women’s groups will be equipped with electronic tablets preloaded with videos and educational materials on family planning and proper use of contraceptive methods. The tablets can be combined with ICT modes, such as text message services for new mothers and interactive counseling services.

This outreach will be coupled with the “Right Time, Right Method, My Choice” campaign, which aims to reach 2.9 million women of reproductive age through radio, TV, print and online outlets. CCP is also using smartphone apps to reduce barriers to obtaining accurate and timely family planning information, including methods, health centers and providers.
