Laboratory testing is the cornerstone of diagnosing and treating HIV and other diseases, with Africa carrying the largest and most overwhelming burden. At the end of 2009, around 22.5 million people in sub-Saharan Africa were living with HIV. In Nigeria, 3.3 million people are infected.
