The inaugural International SBCC Summit 2016 to be held February 8-10 will bring together the global community of social and behavior change communication (SBCC) organizations, professionals and researchers to advance the practice of SBCC in health. It will offer talks from SBCC field practitioners; a market fair of tools, methodologies, programs and research; skills-building workshops; and plenary sessions to consider the way forward in elevating the science and art of SBCC.
The summit will focus on health topics, such as HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, family planning/reproductive health, and maternal, neonatal and child health, as well as water, sanitation, the environment, gender and additional related areas.
Anyone with an interest in furthering the science and art of SBCC is encouraged to attend, especially:
- Non-governmental organization staff
- USAID Mission staff
Participants also can disseminate their own recent research, tools and programming in a number of ways.
Submit an abstract by Friday, October 2 for:
- Technical oral or poster presentations, which will feature innovative and best practices in programming, research, monitoring and evaluation, and creative multimedia. Accepted abstracts will be designated by the selection committee as either oral or poster presentations. Oral presentations will be organized according to theme and presented as panel sessions. Posters will be presented within the exhibition space for the duration of the summit.
- Comm Talks, which should be no more than 10 minutes long and will focus on experiences from the field like innovations, challenges and lessons learned.
- Skills-building workshops, which will provide participants the opportunity to develop new SBCC skills in areas, such as SBCC research, communication channels, advocacy, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and more. Workshops should be either two or four hours long.
