“Ten years ago, we set off to make family planning a social norm in Nigeria,” says Susan Krenn, CCP’s executive director. “Not only have we achieved that hand-in-hand with our government partners, we celebrate the end of NURHI knowing that what we have started will continue on.”
In a series of research studies, leaders of the CCP-led VectorWorks project looked at mosquito net durability in regions of three countries: Nigeria, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
USAID has awarded nearly $10 million to the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs to help 18 countries respond to the COVID-19 pandemic through risk communication and community engagement activities.
A successful CCP pilot program significantly increased the number of symptomatic Nigerians referred for tuberculosis testing. Now, USAID is expanding the program to reach even more Nigerians with TB.
In the 10 states Nigerian where The Challenge Initiative is active, more than half a million women have adopted modern contraception in the program’s first three years. CCP leads the program in Nigeria.
CCP’s Victor Igharo has been named one of 120 Under 40: The New Generation of Family Planning Leaders which recognizes and highlights the achievements of the next generation of family planning leaders worldwide. He directs The Challenge Initiative in Nigeria.
CCP works on the Demographic and Health Surveys to help stakeholders and decision-makers use data to make choices that help improve and protect the lives of women and girls in places like Ghana, India, Nigeria and Pakistan.
“We’re really interested in the value of songs as a communications tool,” says Clare Barlow, curator of a new exhibit at the Wellcome Collection. CCP’s is included along with nine other songs about infectious diseases.
