Technical Co-Lead, Malaria
Anna McCartney-Melstad has more than 17 years of experience working in international behavior change communication, advocacy, project management and education, including the past decade based in Africa (Tanzania, South Africa, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire) and has provided technical support to 18 countries on the continent. She has experience in a variety of health technical areas such as family planning, maternal and child health and, especially, malaria.
Anna is currently the malaria senior technical advisor for CCP’s Breakthrough ACTION project. Previously, she has held positions with CCP as the Chief of Party of the HC3-Nigeria project, overseeing malaria and family planning SBCC activities, and managed the Malaria Safe initiative in several countries across Africa. As co-chair of the international Roll Back Malaria Social and Behavior Change Communication Working Group for the past four years, Anna has led efforts to identify global priorities in malaria social and behavior change communication. She also sits on the RBM Partnership to End Malaria’s Advocacy and Resource Mobilization Committee, Country Regional Support Partner Committee and the Multisectoral Working Group.
