A new health journal in East Africa, created with the help of CCP’s K4Health project, has been developed and nurtured and is ready to strike out on its own.
For more than a decade, David Alexander has managed CCP’s Photoshare, a free editorial collection of more than 30,000 captioned global health and development photos, and has advocated for the role of photography in global health communication.
Global Health: Science and Practice is published by the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs’ Knowledge for Health project, which is supported by USAID.
At the heart of each successful Population, Health and Environment program are the people who live in some of the most richly biodiverse places on the planet and who are working to preserve – or undo damage to – the unique locations they call home. CCP tells their stories.
The contest, in its 13th year, drew interest from around the globe: 215 participants submitted more than 1,660 photos captured in 74 countries.
CCP’s Tara Sullivan shares lessons she’s learned from her 15 years of working as a leader and instructor in knowledge management and learning.
“If there is one thing we hope you take away from today, it is that stories are a powerful way to share knowledge, and research shows they evoke empathy, create trust and lead to action,” said CCP’s Tara Sullivan.
The annual contest, recognizing the best in global health and development photography for more than a decade, is underway. Entry deadline is June 5.
The global handbook, co-published by CCP and WHO, is considered the essential family planning resource for health care professionals around the world.
